I had fun making my teacher gifts this year.
I used yellow ribbon to lace up coasters into a cube shape and used hot glue to adhere the bottom coaster. Isn't that fun? We had done a similar pencil cup at the Mile High Angel Gathering, but it was my friend Barb who gave me the idea to take these a step further to become a handy and so pretty desk caddy. I also made some thank you and notecards for the teachers that were personalized with their names. I just love giving cards because you know they have a ton of thank you's to write at this time of year.
The four different sides of the cube all have different functions. I printed off two years of calendar pages. Two sides of the cube have a layer of acetate/transparency over the top of the paper. One is for writing notes with a write on/wipe off marker and the other is to slide a photo under. The last side has sticky notes (which I personally cannot live without.) I can't wait to see what the teachers think of this goody. Now I'm wishing I had made one for myself!
Wow!!! What a cool creation!!! Neat-O!!!

As a teacher, I wanted to say that this is a GREAT teacher's gift. I would love to get something like this because it's so personal and really shows that you put time and effort it. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteJewels...
ReplyDeleteyes, me again...
Quick question...
Did you print the personalized notes on the computer and then stamp them?
inquiring minds want to know...
Thanks!
Barb
Barb,
ReplyDeleteThe notecards I used were made to go through the printer, so I did that first and they are perfed so I split them apart and stamped. There's a shot of them in this post:

Big Lots: $2 for 50 cards! I think I cleaned them out! -Jewels
This is great! You got a shout out over at Card of the Week.com; you can see the post at http://www.cardoftheweek.com/2008/05/card-of-the-w-4.html
ReplyDeleteYour project is so cute! What a great idea and what fun things you used to carry it out.
ReplyDeleteSuper cute project!
ReplyDeleteCuriously... how is the bottom handled? I don't see the same binding, and there wasn't an explanation (that I saw) about it and I'm really wanting to do these this weekend, as my kids are out on Friday the 13th.
ReplyDeleteThanks!
-A, who's never done this sort of thing before but absolutely loves the idea-
Hi Mamawheelie!
ReplyDeleteSorry, I left out the detail about the bottom. After I laced up the sides, I fit the bottom coaster in and hot glued it in place. Any tacky glue will work, but hot glue is fast. HTH.

This is AWESOME! I recognize the font on the front of your cube matches Gina K's sets. Is it a free font? If so, can you email me (email is on my blog) with the name of it? Thanks!
ReplyDeleteLove this! where did you get the calender to print out?
ReplyDeleteThis is great! Can you please tell me where you printed the calendar?
ReplyDeleteThanks, Cathy

These are so great! I love all the colors and the femininity of them! Now I have to go back and stare at them some more. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteI like that and would be a great older girl VBS project. (We take our VBS to 6th grade, but keep them separate from younger kids.) I am always looking for something an older Tween would like. The adults will love that too! Man it up and the guys will love it. My wheels are turning...
ReplyDeleteThat is so neat! I added to my list of things to try!
ReplyDeleteWow!... Amazing, Genius, Incredible.
ReplyDeleteYou give to me an a beautiful idea.
